Family Fun RV – Why you should vacation in an RV
We all have our own reasons why vacationing in an RV is so great. A warm bathroom on a dark and rainy night, or a comfy bed for a bad back, maybe a convenient nap space for the littles, or even a warm tailgating space - these are some of the reasons RV camping has been gaining in popularity so much over the last few years.
RV road trips have benefits for the solo camper, couples, and families alike. We've compiled some of our favorite reasons why adventuring in a camper, motorhome, toy hauler, or travel trailer is THE BEST, and we'd love to hear what you'd add! Join our Facebook Group to chat with other adventurers.

RVs provide a comfy place for little ones to have their own, familiar nap spot any time of day. This is especially important for those who require sound machines or black-out features for a solid rest.
We probably don't need to emphasize the importance of having your own bathroom in the middle of the night. Young and old, skipping that cold, dark walk to the public bathroom is definitely a bonus.
Let's hear it for convenient, affordable dining! Taking the whole crew out to eat on vacation can get expensive quickly, and it often winds up being more of a chore than a fun experience. Campfire cooking is fun, but it can be difficult when battling weather, prep spaces, and multiple people. Cooking with an RV is fun, easy, AND affordable! RV cooking combines the fun/entertainment of cooking and eating outdoors, with the convenience of cooking and dining at home. -And with an RV, you can have all of your favorite snacks available at any time for people to serve themselves, without making any additional stops or purchases.
Tent camping with pets can be a struggle, and finding someone to watch our fur babies while we're away can get expensive. RV travel means you can take your favorite four-legged companions along with you to join in the fun!
Once the pandemic hit and we were reminded of the importance of washing with warm, soapy water - RV bathrooms became even more valuable. RV kitchens allow us to easily and completely clean dishes between use, and a place to warm cold hands in the winter.
If you're looking for another tax deduction, in most cases an RV loan can be categorized as a second residence. Check with your tax professional to be sure. Learn about how RV financing is different from auto financing in our blog post.
If you have special equipment that's bulky or requires power, medications that require refrigeration, or need the consistency of a familiar space -- then vacationing in your own travel trailer, camper, 5th wheel, or motorhome makes this easy to achieve. Vacations quickly become less stressful and more feasible if everyone can have the peace of mind that their needs can be easily met.
There's a reason so many retirees enjoy RV vacationing. If your schedule allows for flexibility or if your schedule doesn't allow for vacation planning in advance, RV travel allows you to leave the trailer packed with all of your gear so you can leave at a moment's notice. -Or once you're out on the road, you can just continue enjoying yourself - there aren't any deadlines with your own RV. Go where the road takes you. Be impulsive. Try someplace new. There's nothing holding you back!
The stress of hoping you remembered to pack everything before a vacation or hoping you're prepared for everything, is gone with an RV. An RV provides the size and storage for whatever you might need, taking the stress out of leaving for a vacation.
One of our favorite reasons to vacation in an RV is that they provide comfort year-round, which extends your vacation possibilities. Camping in the snow is such a beautiful experience, and being in a heated travel trailer makes it comfortable. Sit out under the power awning playing board games while it's raining. Travel across the country to see fall foliage just because you can. Escape into an air conditioned toy hauler after a long day of riding the Oregon sand dunes.
Reason #11 to vacation in an RV: you're constantly confronted with opportunities to teach (and learn) survival skills. From how to fix a flat, to how to build a fire, to how to use the sky as a compass - operating an RV in the wilderness is packed with teachable moments.
Reason #12 to vacation in an RV: You're completely insulated from pilot shortages, strikes, plane malfunctions and TSA lines. Woot!
Traveling in an RV makes it so much easier to be active because you can bring the whole variety of gear with you and be comfortable after whatever your activity might be. Plus, you're already saving money so you can almost always afford to do and see more when you choose to roll by RV.
Whatever your reasons are for vacationing in an RV, we hope you're having a blast doing it! Please share your additions to this list in our Facebook Group - they're a great group and you don't need to own an RV to join in the fun. We hope to see you out adventuring, soon!
